MCM 1: Public Education & Outreach
As noted, non-point source pollution is the greatest source of water pollution in the United States. Clear water is everybody's responsibility and there are simple things you can do as a resident to help maintain and improve our water quality.
The first component of the Village's non-point source pollution plan is Public Education & Outreach. This is accomplished through several different methods. Educational materials at Village Hall, the Public Library and the Building Department, presentations at public meetings as well as other methods.
Simple things like reducing the use of pesticides and herbicides, washing your car at a commercial car wash instead of your driveway so as to prevent oils and greases from washing into our catch basins; curbing your pets, etc.
