Village Clerk

The Village Clerk is responsible for maintaining custody of the Village seal, books, records, and papers. The Clerk is the official clerk of the Board of Trustees, Planning Board, and Zoning Board of Appeals and is responsible for preparing agendas and maintaining an indexed compilation of minutes from the three Boards.

The Office of the Village Clerk is the primary point of contact when telephoning or visiting the Village of Briarcliff Manor's Administrative Office. The Office provides a variety of services including: Notary Public, Scarborough Station parking permits, dog licensing, disability parking permits, film permits, birth and death certificates, and various licenses including amusement, cabaret, peddling and soliciting, carting, and liquor license renewals.

The Clerk's Office also maintains a record of all local laws. The Village Clerk is responsible for responding to requests for access to public records. Pursuant to the provisions of the Freedom of Information Law, the Village charges $0.25 per page for copying public records.

The Village Clerk is also responsible for operating and maintaining the Village government's cable television Channel 78 (Altice) or Channel 30 (Fios), for maintaining the Village website, and for publishing the Village of Briarcliff Manor's newsletter (The Manor of Speaking).

The Village Clerk is charged with a variety of personnel-related functions for the Briarcliff Manor Village government. The Clerk's Office is the primary interface between the Village and the Westchester County Personnel Department for Civil Service issues. Additionally, the Village Clerk coordinates the Village's employee benefits programs, including a self-administered dental program and vision program and all Worker's Compensation claims.

One of the most important responsibilities of the Village Clerk is administering the Village Election. The Clerk is charged with administering the Annual General Village Election each March as well as any special referenda. Notary services are available from 10 am to noon daily. The service is free for residents and $2 per signature for non-residents. Please make an appointment for multiple document notarizations.
