Is seeking a part-time Programmer for Senior Adults
The Village of Briarcliff Manor is hiring a part time programmer to plan and coordinate the Department’s programs, events, classes, lectures, social and trip offerings for our senior adult population and surrounding communities. The position is part time approximately up to 15 hours per week, weekdays; with occasional evenings and weekends scheduled, based on program schedule. This position will be based out of the Briarcliff Manor Recreation Department.
JOB SUMMARY: Recreation Programmers plan, develop, coordinate and deliver recreation programs and events, as assigned. Programs and events include independent contracted services (classes, lectures), trips (day trips, local trips, maybe even a dine around program) and special events (one day events for seniors – Senior Appreciation Day, Holiday Luncheon, etc.). This could also entail program series’ such as monthly meetups. This position is responsible for course entry into database software, roster management, writing staff reports, maintaining program budgets, equipment, and supply organization, tracking program inventory, and other supporting roles regarding program management. This position works in close collaboration with the other recreation programmers, regarding public programs and events. Work is performed with some degree of latitude of independent judgment and action, under the direction of the Recreation Superintendent and/or Assistant Superintendent. Duties will include office and off-site work. This position supports recreation and senior services as assigned.
HOURS: Part time, approximately three 5-hour days per week, days are flexible between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Hours may vary occasionally with trips and events planned, with occasional evenings and weekends. Flexible schedules can be offered depending on the program schedules. Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent will work with candidate to determine actual schedule.
Required knowledge, skills, abilities and attributes: Familiarity with public service, ability to communicate, comprehend, follow directions, lead a group of people especially senior adults, interest in Recreation work, reliability, self – motivator, as well as the ability to get along with others, ability to read, write, understand and communicate in English sufficiently to perform the essential functions of the position. Use computer applications such as outlook, work, excel, and/or civic plus.
Salary Range: The starting hourly salary for the position as Senior Adult Programmer is $20 to $25 per hour depending on qualifications and experience.

It is anticipated that this position would be expected to work approximately up to 15 hours per week between the hours of 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday – Friday, and might require an occasional evening and weekend hours.
